Kai returned inside the hospital and sank back into the waiting area chair, with his hands clasped so tightly his knuckles burned white. His lips moved in a silent prayer with the same words over and over, begging anyone above to listen. It had been an hour since Abigail was rushed into the ER. By now, she must have been taken to the delivery room. He hadn’t seen her since, nor heard a single thing, and the waiting was slowly tearing him apart.
