Abigail finally let out a long, shaky breath, leaning back against the couch as the last words of her conversation with Adam faded from the speaker. A strange lightness settled over her chest. She felt relief, maybe, from finally letting everything spill out. She was about to drop her phone onto the coffee table when it rang again.
Glancing at the screen, she frowned. Trina’s name flashed insistently. With a small sigh, Abigail tapped the answer button.
“Abi!? Abi, have you heard?!” Trina’s voice immediately echoed from the other line with a sharp, frantic, and panicked tone.
Abigail froze mid-breath, her heartbeat jumping. “Trina? What happened? Calm down. Tell me slowly.”
