The car ride was mostly quiet. Abigail sat curled beside Kai in the backseat of the luxury black SUV while her fingers toyed with the hem of her dress, still dazed from the events of the last hour. Her cheeks were flushed, her heart uncertain, but her hand remained in his, and he wouldn’t let go. Kai had been sneaking glances at her the whole time, hiding a smug smile behind every casual breath. She looked like she was dreaming.
