While Abigail was in the kitchen with her father, Kai sat stiffly on the edge of the couch, and every muscle in his body was locked in place. His hands gripped his knees so tightly his knuckles whitened. He felt like prey in the middle of a pack of curious lions except these lions weren’t trying to hurt him, they were digging for answers.
