When we got back upstairs to the bedroom I sat on the bed while Axel leaned against the desk and Atticus also sat on the bed, but not close enough to crowd me. “Why would you go down there?” Axel asked. “I needed to look him in the eye.” I said. “Axel. We can’t blame her for talking to her father. Not after everything.” Atticus said. So Axel’s attention turned back to me. “I’m not blaming you for anything.
