Caden stirred, lazily. He lay on the sofa with his head propped on a pillow. A cold compress lay across his forehead and had long since gone warm. He glanced at the television to see the credits rolling. Then his gaze drifted to where Alexis quietly dozed. It seemed they had both fallen asleep. They lay together, her body tucked up against his. Her head rested on his shoulder and her arm stretched across his torso. She had done exactly as promised, fixing him tea and massaging his head and neck to ease his tension.
