Amelia's POV I woke up with a headache. For a moment, I do not know where I am. I sit up in my bed, and to my shock and surprise, I see a man lying naked in the bed with me! What happened? Why am I here? I do not drink, so I could not have passed out. Someone must have drugged me with wolfsbane or sleeping pills and set me up. I don't understand how this happened, but I have to get the hell out of here and fast. I was married to the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, but the naked man lying on the bed was clearly not my husband. Who hates me so much that they want to do this to me? For years, I carried the weight of my empty womb like a silent shame—Lucas and I had tried, hoped, prayed, but to no avail. Then, last night, the impossible became real: two pink lines, a promise where there had only been longing. I remember rushing to Leona, breathless with joy, my heart spilling over with the news. She had held me, laughed with me, and insisted we celebrate. My dearest friend—my sister in all but blood. She would never have slipped something into my drink. But the fog in my mind, the fragments of lost time… I have to find her. I need answers. I got out of bed and quickly put on my clothes, then was about to sneak out with my shoes in hand when the door suddenly burst open. Leona burst in with Lucas. Their gazes flickered from me to the naked stranger sprawled across the bed, then back again, their expressions collapsing into disbelief. "Oh my God, Amelia-" Leona’s voice shattered into a scream, raw with betrayal. "What the hell is going on here?" Lucas asks, his eyes are red with anger. "Lucas, I don't know how I ended up here! I promise you. Someone drugged me!" I said in alarm. At that moment, the man who had been passed out on my bed woke up. He looked at me with a horrible smile on his face. "Oh, come on, baby. You were all over me last night. Do not pretend that you were drugged." He said, then smiled at Leona. I have an awful feeling that he and Leona were working together. It cannot be, she is my best friend! "Shut up! I don't know you!" I snarled at the strange man, then explained to Lucas, "Lucas, I swear I do not know what happened last night! Please believe me!" My legs feel weak as I look into the icy red eyes of my mate. The man tries to get out of the bed and is trying to say something else when I snap and I grab him by his neck and rip out his heart. "Wow, you are so desperate to stay Luna that you killed your lover." Leona’s gaze met mine, her voice spoke and the words that left her lips were cold, unfamiliar, as if a stranger had stolen her voice. "Lucas, I told you that last night she disappeared with that man. I was looking for her all night. No one drugged her. I was with her the whole time." I glare at her. I feel my wolf getting angry as we want to kill her in front of Lucas. Why would she do that? Why did she betray me? "Then why don't you come to me in my bedroom?" I countered her. "I did not think you would be so stupid to return to your bedroom with your lover!" Leona growls. "Amelia, you have humiliated me. I am the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack! Today is my birthday party! People will laugh at me behind my back when they realise that my wife was sleeping with another man. How long has it been going on?" Lucas growled angrily at me. My life is falling apart in a matter of moments, and I don't know how to handle this situation because I've done nothing wrong. "Lucas, Leona and I were celebrating last night because I'm pregnant with your child. I did nothing wrong, and I do not know what happened!" I cry. "You are not pregnant with Lucas' child. You're pregnant with your lover's child." Leona interjects, "Lucas, do you believe for one moment she can be pregnant with your child? All those years married to you, and she never conceived. Yet the moment she takes a lover, she’s with child. Do you truly believe that the baby is yours?" "Guards! Throw this woman in jail. She is sentenced to death for betraying her Alpha and sleeping with another man. She is pregnant with his child!" Lucas shouts. "Lucas, Leona and I were celebrating last night because I'm pregnant with your child. I did nothing wrong, and I do not know what happened!" I cry. "You are not pregnant with Lucas' child. You're pregnant with your lover's child." Leona interjects, "Lucas, all those years married to you, and she never conceived. Yet the moment she takes a lover, she’s with child. Do you truly believe that the baby is yours?" "Guards! Throw this woman in jail. She is sentenced to death for betraying her Alpha and sleeping with another man. She is pregnant with his child!" Lucas shouts. "Lucas, you have to believe me. I am your Luna. I am your wife. I am sure Leona is the one who drugged me and put me in bed with this guy. I don't even know if I had any s*x with him. If I did have s*x with him, you would have felt the pain." I took Lucas's hand to keep from being taken away by the guards, then I glared angrily at Leona, "Leona, I thought you were my best friend! I trusted you with my life!" Even now, I can't comprehend Leona's betrayal. Every word she speaks, every glance she steals—it's all seemed to be breaking down the connection between Lucas and me. Were they always this close? Have they betrayed me together? "Amelia, I only believe what I see," Lucas growls. "Guards take her away! Throw her in prison. She and her bastard died together!" "No! I did nothing wrong! Lucas, I'm asking you one more time. Let me go. I am expecting your child!" I shout. Lucas grins as he looks at me with hatred in his eyes. I try to fight off the guards, but there are too many, and they drag me away to prison. I have my head high as I walk to the prison, passing all the people in the crowd that have formed. Everyone looks at me and points their fingers.
