Maddie’s POV
I slowly blinked my eyes open, the warm rays of sunlight streaming through the window and touching my face. With a soft groan, I rolled over, turning away from the light, unwilling to fully wake and open my eyes.
This has to be the best sleep I have had in ages, and I wanted to continue basking in it until I could no longer.
The cool breeze licked at my skin in a delicious way, and I curled up on the bed, sighing in sweet relief. Everything just felt so perfect; the warmth that was radiating beside me was enough to make me want to stay here forever.
And if I had been observant, that would have been the first sign that something was amiss. Instead, I close my eyes, forcing myself to sleep. But my nostril flared as my senses were slowly beginning to work again.
