I should be bolting out of here, with my heels touching the back of my head, but I needed his help and all the help I could get. Instead, I ground my leg and forced myself to stay there and even smile.
“I know you are aware that I will be the next alpha, but I have been gone for some months, and I think it may have changed the pack’s view about me.” I began, my yes fastened on his face, observing even the slightest changes and how he was absorbing my words. “This is where you come in.”
