The first thing that greeted me was an oblong stomach that threatened to fall with every step she took, and I jerked up, ready to catch it if that happens.
“I know you weren’t expecting me, but you could be a little enthusiastic about it.” Ariel grumbled, rolling her eyes, and I smiled.
“Hey, Ariel!” I called out in a high-pitched, cheery voice, and she cringed, clearly not a fan of my enthusiasm.
