Chapter Sixty Four "Losing Battle" Quick as lightning, he lunges at me. I sidestep his grab, but it doesn’t slow him; he spins around and swings his fist. It crashes into my solar plexus with such force I’m sent flying back several feet, landing on the ground with a wheeze. Pain bursts along my back and I hear as well as feel one of my ribs crack. He doesn’t give me a moments reprieve; once again, he comes at me, this time aiming a kick to my head. I roll out of the way, then bring my leg up to land a very harsh kick to the side of his knee, forcing it to cave at an unnatural angel. He lets out a shout of pain, falling to one knee; I take the opportunity to leap to my feet, using his momentary distraction to yank the chain off my neck.
