Comforting Simone had been no easy task. But with many soothing reassurances, soft promises, and unending support, she finally drifted to sleep. William watched her, livid, even though he tried to keep appearances. He remained by her side, never once leaving the room, never once letting go of her hand. He was barely functioning properly… And as he called his best friend, he was trying to find a solution. He refused to just wait for the next incident that might just spell disaster, instead of mere trouble. The man picked up but didn’t greet him jovially as usual. Instead, his voice was weary, almost sleepy as he asked, “What’s up?” He couldn’t have been asleep. William knew his friend enough to know that Anthony didn’t do naps. But now wasn’t exactly the time to worry about him, was it?
