Rooted in place, Simone watched as William rose to his feet, his eyes resolute but oh so tender. He closed the distance between them in a couple of strides, and then he embraced her in a tight hug, as if to never let go.
Simone felt her heart try to beat its way out of her chest, while her breathing became erratic. Heavens have mercy, even her eyes stung with unshed tears. She was getting emotional over a mere hug… This was a new one for her.
