I was so happy for them. They were building a family together. I was glad things worked out perfectly well for Simon and Carolyn without much of a hassle. And I was glad that I could call them my friends.
With Simon being frequently excused from work, I had to work double. But that was okay. It kept me occupied. Nonetheless, I tried to end work before sunset so that I could visit the girls. Regardless of my connection with their mother not being much of a relationship, Bree and Zoe had become an important part of my life. Those innocent little faces quickly became the only reason for my smile. In addition to that, her father's wise words gave me hope. He seemed to have accepted me as a part of his family. Those precious words he had said to me echoed in my mind every day.
