“A few shareholders are now raising a question about Ms. Carter’s absence, Charlette. I don’t know how, but they got a whiff of her being out of the country,” Rhea told me worriedly over the call.
“Handle this in whatever way you think it can be handled, Rhea. Mom entrusted you with the company in her absence. I will send a statement on Mom’s behalf, stating that she is on leave for some personal reason, and we will be back soon,” I assured her calmly.
“Do you know where she is?” she asked me cautiously.
“You know how secretive she can be, Rhea, but you don’t worry. She is safe and will be back soon,” I answered her perfunctually.
Harrison told me not to utter a single word about Mom’s whereabouts to anyone, not even to Mona.
