Chapter No.2

Elara De Luca: “I am not an ordinary man, Miss. De Luca. I didn’t reach the top charts for nothing.” He answered, “I know the secrets all the businessmen are hiding. I have my eyes everywhere. Besides, your father and I have done business several times, which is why I know about you. And you are the biggest secret kept by your father from the world.” He replied in a straightforward tone. “So, in short, you investigated about him by doing a background check?” I asked, rolling my eyes “You know it is illegal, right?” “Illegal or not, I don’t care because I don’t do business with my eyes closed. So, sue me if you want, and I won’t care, Miss. De Luca.” He spoke in a dangerously low voice, “Do you really think that your father is innocent? He does the same thing as I do, every businessman does. If he doesn’t, then he is not a businessman at all. Didn’t they teach you how to do business at Harvard, Miss. De Luca?” “Please, call me Elara. they did teach business, but I am afraid they forgot to teach the dirty and illegal tricks to do business,” I spoke sarcastically with an attitude rolling my eyes. “Don’t roll your eyes at me, Miss. De Luca. And, keep that tone in check if you want to work at my company as my assistant, which brings me to the next question. Out of all the positions available at my company, why did you specifically choose the assistant position? Any specific reason, or are you here to spy on me? Are you sent by your arrogant, brainless, and egomaniac of a father?” When he insulted my father, I couldn’t take it, so I stood up on my feet and picked up my resume. “That’s it. I came over here purely to get this job, specifically in this company and the position of assistant, because I got inspired by you and your business tactics, your strategies, and everything. I became your number one fan, and instead of learning the business from my genius father, I wanted to learn from you, but you proved me wrong by insulting my father. The only asshole and egomaniac over here is you. Not my father. I love my father so much that I won’t let anyone insult him. He is my number one hero, and I respect him from my heart. So, you can keep that job of yours and shove it down your ass because I am not interested in it anymore.” I snapped and turned around to leave. As I was walking towards the exit door, Valentino grasped my arm and turned me to face him. His touch caused a noticeable physical reaction, as I experienced a shiver, a tingling sensation, and goosebumps on my skin. “I am sorry, Elara. I didn’t mean to upset you.” He spoke calmly. “I am just curious: why would you want to work for me when you are destined to run your father’s company? With the amount and resources your father has, you can open and run your own business. Then what are you doing over here? Your father and I have been rival companies since you were just a baby, so I can’t help but be curious and suspicious about it.” “Apology accepted, Mr. Hawksley, but I can’t work here. Sorry for wasting your precious time and for answering your question. It is indeed true that with the billions of dollars and resources my father holds, I can open my own business and run it successfully with his help, but I don’t want that. I want to learn and gain experience from the person I admire after him. The person who inspires me and that person is you. I want to learn from you, but I am afraid I can’t do that anymore. I could work at my father’s company and take over the position of CEO or any other, but I don’t want that because I don’t want to be presented with things on a gold platter. I want to work hard and establish my own name in the business world by starting from the ground. Just like my father did. Just like you did, I don’t want to be represented as the spoiled wealthy daughter of Ambrose De Luca or the spoiled heiress. I want to be known by the name and personality I am trying to build.” I informed and saw sparkle and admiration in his eyes after he heard my words, or that’s what I thought or felt. Maybe. “You truly amaze me, Elara.” Valentino said in a husky tone, “You’re hired. You can start working for me as my assistant from tomorrow, and I promise that I won’t insult your father. At least, I would try to, but I can’t promise about that.” “Wait, what?” I asked, surprised by his words. “You heard me, Miss. De Luca. You are hired. You start tomorrow. Now, let’s discuss the salary and benefits you will get. Shall we?” he asked. “But I didn’t accept the job,” I spoke, standing confidentially on my ground. “So, are you saying that you are ready to lose the only chance of learning from me?” he asked, challenging me. I know what he was trying to do, and I didn’t want to fall for it but damn it, the man was too hot and intelligent to be denied. “If you really were my fan and inspired by me, then you would have been saying yes in a heartbeat which you are not since I didn’t hear any.” “I know what you are trying to do, and I am not going to fall for it. My father raised me better and taught me some great strategies himself.” I said. But, yeah. I won’t want to miss the only chance of learning from you, which is why I agree, but only on one condition.” “I don’t think you are the boss over here to put conditions on me, young lady. Don’t you think?” he asked with a grin. But I am willing to listen—only for this time, so to speak.” “My only condition is that you will not insult my father in front of me at all.” I stated, “I know that yours and my father’s company are rival companies, and, to be honest, both are the best on the top charts.” “I will agree if you answer me honestly to my one last question for today.” He spoke, taking my hand in his and making me sit on the couch while he sat beside me, keeping a few inches of distance between us, and I gulped. This handsome old man was doing a great job of turning me on that all I want is to get under him with him on top of me, buried deep inside of me and fillin'…. wait, what the hell am I thinking? I mentally scold myself for having such thoughts. The man is happily married and has a daughter named Valentine, who is my age. “What’s the question?” I asked, with shallow breath. “Does your father know?” he asked. “ I mean, did you tell him that you are going for an interview at my company? Something tells me that you didn’t, or else you wouldn’t have been sitting over here. So, what’s the honest answer? Did you tell him or not?” “I…I….I di..” I was at a loss for words as I didn’t know what to say. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to answer his question. “ No, he does not, and you are right, that if he had, then I wouldn’t have been sitting over here.” “Fair enough.” He murmured, “So, before we begin, there is one more thing I want to ask, and then we can move forward with the process.” “I thought you were done asking questions.” I grinned, and he let out a light laugh. “I swear this is the last and tough one, if I must add.” This time, his voice and his smirk were giving me goosebumps all over my skin. Screaming danger. “Okay, what is it?” I asked, feeling nervous, and played with the bracelet on my wrist. “Is our relationship going to be purely business or pleasure, Elara?” he asked, caressing my arms seductively with his fingers. “I am not a fool, Elara. I can see that you want me, which is why you are clenching your legs shut because your panties are drenched with need. The looks you were giving me without even realizing it tell me that you are attracted to me. So, tell me, are you?” he asked in a raspy tone. “Am I what?” I asked, hearing his words clearly the first time, but I was taken aback by them so badly that I wanted to hear them again. “Let’s get straight to the point, Elara. Shall we?” he asked, leaning closer to me, erasing the few inches of distance between us until our bodies were touching as he whispered the next words. “Tell me, little one. Do you want me to f**k you on this couch?” as he spoke, his lips mere inches from mine, and his hand placed on my bare thigh, running slow and seductive circles on my skin.
