There is a soft knock on my door.
“Come in.”
Rose peeked inside with a large smile.
My heart jumped in happiness as I saw the old maid walked inside holding a huge envelope in her hand.
For a moment my heart skipped a bit. Is this another message from my dad?
“Oh, Rubi. I’m so happy to see you.”
I reached over and gave her a tight hug.
“I’m happy to see you too, Rose. It’s been so long since I last saw you.”
Her smile faded a little, replaced by a sad embarrassed look.
“Are you angry with me, after I helped you, but at the same time I also helped Hector?”
I frowned, trying to remember what she was talking about.
“Oh, that.” I said, as my memories from the past invaded my mind.
