I’d come up with the idea of using a mask and glasses last minute. It had felt desperate and ridiculous when I was standing in the bathroom, staring at my reflection under the harsh fluorescent lights, tugging the mask into place and wondering when exactly my life had started to feel like some strange undercover operation.
