Chapter 222 ~ Navine ~ "I'm just expecting you to do the needful," Nathaniel said from the doorway, his tone serious despite our earlier laughter, the kind of seriousness that settled into your bones rather than raising its voice. "Tell Hailey the whole truth. Stop shying away from it. She deserves that much, and so does your child." Then he left, closing the door behind him with a quiet click that felt far too final, far too loaded for such a small sound, as though it had sealed something shut inside my chest. I sat there in the silence of my office, staring at the space where my brother had been standing, half expecting him to come back and say he had changed his mind, that I did not have to do this yet, that I could take more time, that fear was understandable and delay was allowed.
