I was shocked and confused by what Nathaniel was about to do. By how close his face had gotten to mine. By the intensity in his eyes that suggested this wasn't just a casual moment.
Part of me wanted to push him away. To maintain boundaries. To not complicate an already impossibly complicated situation.
But I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Because after all, I'd done more than just kiss Nathaniel. I'd made love to him—or at least, I thought I had. The masked man at Obscura with the tattoo that looked exactly like Nathaniel's.
