The class of about seventy students was almost filled up but no signs of Jason anywhere as his two closest friends kept moving their eyes in all directions, expecting to find Jason somewhere around the large classroom, but he was not seen, and he was the leader of their group on a project that had been given to them for over two weeks now. They knew how much effort they'd all put in to ensure that an excellent presentation was delivered and without him, something would just not go right.
“Has anyone seen Jason?” exclaimed a girl who was part of his group for the project that was set to be presented in an hour thirty minutes' time and he was nowhere to be found.
Gross!
Their faces were not pleasing at all. And when Romeo, who was always more outspoken, could no longer bear trying to be patient, also considering the fact that the rest of them in the same group with him were troubled facially, he exclaimed, “f**k it! I’m going to go find him.”
He left his seat at that minute and the girl whose name was Myla followed him immediately, even before Jack could make up his mind to join him.
“So, where will you go… do you have any idea where he might be?” Myla asked, trying to keep up.
“No, I don’t. Guess I’m going to check his apartment first.”
“Wait up, you two!” Jack screamed the minute he saw them entering a car belonging to Romeo, which was a low-valued car compared to the ones used by average and high-class citizens of the country, because they were declared slaves, and part of the limiting factor was that they would not be permitted to be seen driving better cars would they have had money to, nobody will sell it to them and their bank account will be questioned should it rise about the limit required by law. That was done to keep them in their place as citizens who were made slaves under the tyrannic regime of Zod when he was a governor prior to his being the prime minister.
“Thought you weren’t coming.” Romeo quipped when Jack opened the door to join him in the front seat, whereas, Myla had taken the back seat, already having her seatbelts on.
“I would even miss a wedding so long if it had to do with Jason.” Jack giggled, drawing his seatbelts to fit it… they all laughed over it as Romeo drove out. They’ve been friends with him ever since they met him in the field fifteen years ago where they were all forced to work almost all day to serve the government as laborers to generate revenue for Zod’s government as at then and keep his wealth flowing. Jason’s daring attitude had helped them a lot and provided them with more meals than they were able to get and ever since, they looked up to him as their leader, with whose help they were able to stand up for some little right, part of which is to attend school like other kids in the states, at least; though they were a few who were marked as slaves in the school they currently were attending.
“Jason. Are you in? Come on, open up, it’s me, Romeo.”
“Jason, come on open up. We know you have been in there with the girl since last night. She’s hot, isn’t she!” Jack exclaimed, commenting in jest while trying to look inside the house through the front window, because he was tired of seeing Romeo knock on the door with no one to answer it.
Laughing out loud…
“That’s why you forgot we are having our project defense today, huh! Don’t tell me she is so sweet you forgot to wake up…” Romeo continued cracking as they both laughed because they knew how beautiful the girl was. The previous night, they were at the club house, when Lilly walked in, the boys avoided her, knowing who she was and the news of what had been done to people who tried to take advantage of her had gone viral, but Jason had no idea, because he wasn’t that much into social media things except for TV’s. Myla, who stood behind them trying to understand what girl they were talking about for close to five minutes since they started knocking and calling, suddenly asked because she felt within herself that something just wasn’t right…
“Hello… have anyone noticed the hole in the door knob?” She asked and they both looked down to see that she was right. Romeo quickly pushed the door open to see that it was jammed all along.
“Jason! …” They both screamed continuously as they ran into his apartment, checking every room, praying they did not by any means find him lying dead somewhere around…
“Get the f*ck out of the vehicle!” Paul Frost scolded while opening the door to the seat Jason was sitting when they arrived at the presidential palace, which happened to be the most fortified place in the whole of Eden-burg and the official residence of the prime minister. He punched him in his face again, pulling him out of the vehicle using harsh means which drew Lilly’s attention because the car she was in was directly behind that which Jason arrived in.
“Stop it, Paul… Stop yelling at him!” Lilly ranted the minute she stepped out of her own car and ran towards Jason to defend him so as to prevent Paul from hitting him again.
“Move away from him, I said move!” Paul Frost yelled at her and, knowing he should never dare touch her because it was forbidden by law to use violence on any one of a royal family, he pulled out his pistol and pointed the muzzle at her face as she stood right in front of Jason. Lilly revealed a mischievous smile, knowing he was going to be in trouble should her dad get to see him pointing a gun at her and while she was still smiling, Zod showed up and, with an astonished rough tone, he asked,
“Paul… What are you doing?”
