SHOW HER

963 Words
XAVIER That’s it, that’s my girl. Bite down on your tongue until you can’t anymore, until a pleasurable scream tears through your throat. My fingers curl around her neck as I dig deeper, inching my body closer to her. Melanie whines, right hand reaching for her back. I pull away from her immediately. Yes, I do want her to make sounds, but of pleasure, not pain. My gaze drops to her back, carefully cleaned and covered with a bandaid, and the lump in my throat thickens. I had tried to ignore it before, pretending it wasn’t there. To allow my desire overcome the watery, insatiable thirst for vengeance in my mouth was the only way to stop myself from booking a ticket for his city and tearing him from limb. She should never have married him. We should never have let her walk out of our room that morning…ever. All I can do is place my hand on her shoulder. If I move to touch it, I would lose every ounce of self control. When I look at my brothers, I can see they’re all thinking the same thing. “What? What is it?” Melanie’s soft voice tears through the silence. Her tone is defensive, on the edge. How much has she gone through in the hands of that fucker? I have too much to say, but I let Cassian speak instead. “You need to see a doctor, Melanie.” And a f*****g therapist. Fuck it. I hate shrinks, but it sucks to watch her soul shrivel like this. She used to be as bright as the sun, even with everything that happened, and now… Melanie tenses under my hold, her fists curling. She shrugs and bends to the ground, picking up her panties. Shit. She’s pissed off. “It’s for your own good,” Cassian continues. “Melanie, we…” “Don’t!” She whips her head up and screams. “Don’t say that. Don’t tell me it’s for my own good…” Still standing behind her, I can see her visibly shaking. “Brandon always…” she shakes her head, sniffing in tears. “Brandon always said that, and he didn’t have the first damn clue what was good for me.” Of course it’s him, every f*****g thing goes back to him. She hisses, and begins to stomp out of the room. Val moves just in time to catch her right wrist. He pulls her towards him, without any thought. Melanie crashes into his broad chest, her fingers curling against his bare skin. His tattooed fingers comb the length of her short blonde hair, while his other hand pats her back gently as she sobs into him. My fingers begin to tremble, my jaw hardens. I’ve always messed things up when it comes to her. Valentin Alistair— my dearest brother— on the other hand, always knew what to say, when to say it, and how to f*****g say it. He is the eldest, but it doesn’t explain or excuse why he has to be so perfect all the time. “We do not mean to hurt you.” He murmurs. “So stop treating me like a breakable fragile thing.” How can she not see that we do that only because we…care? We never planned to. The history between our families, its… “What would you rather be treated like?” I blurt out, silencing the voices in my head. “A slut?” Cassian shoots me an annoyed glare. I’ve said the wrong thing again. Or have I? The wicked glow in Melanie’s eyes makes me pleased with myself. “You couldn’t debase me like that even if you tried.” She bites back, still wrapped in Val’s arms. My smile grows wider. This is it, here is the dynamic I recognize. This push and pull, cat and mouse, this is what I know, this is who we are. We both take comfort and relish in it. I take a step forward, watching her throat bob, teary eyes now laced with lustful hunger. I’ve got her right where I want her. “We did make a bet.” “And you lost.” “Lost?” I stretch my right hand out. “I barely got started, sweet cheeks.” She takes one look at me and shakes her head, holding back her smile. She buries her face into Val’s chest. “You were meant to make me moan, and all you managed to do was annoy me,” She looks amongst the three of us. Val, to Cassian, then tilts her head backwards to catch a glimpse of me. “All of you.” Cassian joins his hands together at his back, his expression of pure focus. His right brow arches in amusement. “Come on. Give us a second chance, will you?” She hesitates for a while, tongue circling her mouth, over her teeth and gum, again and again. “Fine,” she hisses, rolling her eyes. “Only because you need to know I’m not your property, or your toy. This will only happen once. Am I clear?” Val leans into her right ear, whispering softly. “Only if we lose, and besides…” He spins her around, making her face me. We exchange glances, something hot and charged passes between us. Val looks straight into my eyes as he says; “My dearest brother is known to do the most wicked things with his tongue.” The confidence in Val’s voice, the hunger in Melanie’s eyes, both have the power to turn me into a f*****g animal. My mouth waters. Cassian drops the final bomb. “Go ahead, brother,” he smiles at me. “Show her.”
