Chapter 19   “Avery, you have guests” Trent shouts up the stairs to me. “I’ll be there in a second” I shout back. I’m struggling now. Only a few days left of my pregnancy. I can hardly bend down to put my shoes on, so I am always wearing slip on shoes or slippers. I am always wearing long dresses as the maternity trousers I bought just don’t sit right on my bump and I never feel comfortable in the. So flowy dresses is all I have been wearing. AS I check myself in the mirror one last time, look ok, I think. I head downstairs, slowly as my nerves are kicking in and the baby has decided to play football with my bladder. AS I reach the bottom of the stairs, I hear chatter in the lounge, so I head in. Seven pair of eyes turn to look at me. Trent comes over and takes my hand in his and guides me through to the lounge. The other pairs of eyes are Trents parents, Hazel and Philip and my grandparents. Both sets of grandparents came over from Scotland for a visit just like Emily said they would. We had decided to slowly introduce the family to me, so grandparents came first. I had met with Emily a few times since the wedding and have kept in contact with her through texts and calls. She is coming over later once she has finished her shift, she is a nurse at the local hospital. “Avery” I hear a whisper in the corner, from one of the woman. “You look so much like your mother” she says as she comes over to give me hug. We all break down crying and sit on the sofa. After the emotional greeting, Hazel goes to get everyone drinks and brings through the sandwiches we made earlier. Everyone is getting on great, chatting and getting to know each other. I could not have asked for nicer grandparents. They seem amazing. They are all so apologetic that they were not able to find me in foster care. I could not blame them, the paperwork Mr Taylor gave me showed that they had tried to find me all those years ago. After a few hours of talking and drinking tea. Emily arrives and is extremely happy to see her grandparents. We all sit round chatting again. They are telling me stories of what Emily used to get up to when she was younger. She was a little embarrassed but laughed it off. Its been an amazing day but it has made me exhausted and yawn escaped me. My grandparents notice “Right, we will head off now. You need to rest my little gem.” Jeff states as he gets to his feet and ushers the others out. We say our goodbyes as my grandparents head back to their hotel to rest but they promise to visit tomorrow. I find myself, sitting in the lounge with a huge smile on my face, Trent comes over and sits beside me “They seem lovely” he says as he reaches arm around my shoulder and I lean my head on his chest. “Yeah. They do. I’m so happy Trent. I cant thank you enough for finding my family” I say as I rub circles on his chest. “You do not need to thank me baby. I will do everything and anything to make you happy. I love you” he says as he rubs my hair. “you want to head to bed for a nap, or want to get comfy here on the sofa?” Trent asks as moves to fix some pillows for me. “I’ll head to bed, my back is aching” I say as I get to my feet. Trent helps me upstairs to our room, once we get in the room, he goes straight to the bed to sort the pillows to help support my massive bump and I climb on and crawl to over to rest on my side. Trent places a blanket over me and kisses my temple “I’ll just be downstairs tidying up a little and will come check on you in a couple hours” he says as he leaves them room. I wake up from my nap with a pain in my stomach, its quiet intense but doesn’t last too long. I gently get myself up from the bed and head to the bathroom. I splash some water on my face as another pain hits and a fell liquid run down my leg. “TRENT” I scream at the top of my voice. A few minutes later and still no sign of him. I manage to compose myself and go to the bedroom door and shout on him again. I’m standing leaning against the doorframe as he comes running up the stairs, “Baby? What’s wrong?” he says as he runs over to me. “My water broke” I say just as another pain hits and I double over this time the pain is excruciating. “s**t ok. I will call the doctor” he says as he pulls out his phone from his pocket. He helps me over the bed as he is on the phone. I’m not really focusing on what he is saying on the phone, I’m trying to control the pain with my breathing just like all the books and leaflets have told me to do. “Baby, how far apart are the contractions?” Trent asks as he rest the phone between his ear and shoulder. “Not sure about 5 minutes” I whisper as another pain hits. Theses breathing exercises are not helping in the slightest. “OK… yeah…. Leaving now” Trent hangs up the call and helps me to my feet after slipping on my slippers. “Come on baby. We need to get to the hospital.” We head down stairs just as the doorbell goes, Trent yells for whoever it is to come in. Aidens head appears behind the door, seeing Trent trying to carry my hospital bags and help me down the stairs, Aiden jogs up takes the bags from Trent and helps us to the car. He tells Trent to go and he will follow once he has locked up the house and called his parents and Donna. We arrive at the hospital in 15 minutes, I’m sure Trent broke a few laws to get here this quick but I am not complaining. The pain is at its worse and has not stopped at all. As we arrive, there is a doctor and a few nurses with a wheelchair waiting for us. “Avery, try keep calm and the breathing going, lets get her to a room now.” The doctor yells as I am pushed through the hospital, Trent jogging behind as he had to park the car. I am helped up onto a hospital bed once they have stripped me of my clothing and replaced it with a hospital gown. The attached monitors to me to check blood pressure and check the babies heart beat. “All sounds good. Hows the pain Avery?” the doctor asks, “Hurts..bad” I pant out as another contraction hits like a truck. “f*****g hurts” I scream out. Trent comes to my side with a cool damp cloth and places it on my forehead, “Avery, listen to the doctor baby. Try keep calm” he whisper in my ear as he rubs my forehead with the cloth. I push him away. “You try going through this pain, asshole” I shout at my husband “Avery, you are fully dilated, very quick labour for your first. No time for pain relief either. The next contraction I want you to concentrate on pushing and listen to what I tell you” he says as he gets ready for my contraction. “I’m sorry for swearing doctor, its not like me” I pant out trying to calm myself. “I have heard worse my dear. Don’t you worry about it. Right Trent, you hold Averys hand, get yourself comfy, we are about to have a baby” he says. “I’m sorry” I whisper to Trent and squeeze his hand gently to get his attention. “Its fine baby, you can make up for it in 6 weeks time” he says as he places as kiss on my temple, I look up to him a little confused, then it eventually clicks just as the next contraction hits like a fucker. “Push” the doctor screams. The have heard a load of woman say that childbirth is the type of pain that you never forget but at the same time, once the baby is born the pain disappears just as quick as it appears. They woman are totally right. I was pushing for about 20 minutes in the worst pain I have ever experience, and after that the pain was gone. Completely gone, the pain replaced with the soft cries of my baby.   Snuggled into my chest, my baby, my baby boy Blake Colton. He is adorable. The nurses take him from me to go get weighed and cleaned up. The doctor tells me the delivery was perfect, no stitches required. After a while, another nurse helps me from the bed to head for shower to get myself cleaned up, while Trent heads out to call his family and my grandparents and Liz and Danny to tell them the news.
