“What?” I manage to croak out at Adrien as I watch the life-giving blood slipping out of Gonzalo. I was losing him. I could feel the sparks of the mate bond less and less as the blood left his body. Adrien’s words were trying to penetrate through my grief, but it was hard. I saw Gonzalo’s eyes close.
“No,” I whimpered as I put my forehead to his. “Don’t leave me again,” I begged him. “I can’t live in this world without you again.” I only just got him back. I ignored the pressure building in my head as I prayed for him to wake up.
