“Joel, what happened?!” Leah hollered as she and Allie ran toward him.
“Luna, Beta, Sly’s awake!”
“WHAT!?” The girls screamed in shock and excitement. They snapped their eyes to the window of his hospital room, but Allie noticed something wasn’t quite right.
“Wait, what’s wrong with him?” Allie asked.
“Dr. Boyd isn’t sure,” Joel responded. Allie furrowed her brows. She gently opened the door and walked in.
“Sly?” she softly called out, but there was no reaction. “Sly?” Allie called out again and looked at him. His eyes were open, and she could see that he was blinking. So, there was a cognitive reaction.
“What’s wrong with him?” Leah asked as she came in.
“I don’t know. I mean, he’s awake and blinking, but that’s it.”
