Nothing could’ve prepared me for Selene’s text.
At first, I thought I was seeing things. Maybe I was dreaming…or even just desperate enough to imagine it. But then I handed my phone to Raymond.
He squinted at the screen, then looked up, brows raised. “Dude, this is real. She actually sent this.”
‘Hi Maximus, please come over. I’d like to see you. It’s pretty urgent.’

And just like that, my heart starts to do somersaults. She unblocked me… Does this mean she’s finally reconsidering? Giving me a shot?
Before I can think twice, I snatch the phone back and shove it into my pocket like it is made of gold.
Raymond blinks. “Easy there, man. What if she’s messing with you? Selene’s never reached out like this before.”
