“I’m sorry, my darling, but you can’t come with Mommy to work today.” I give him a playful look, wiggling my eyebrows. “Why don’t you relax? It’s the weekend, and we’re supposed to enjoy it with your sister and Nelly.”
I pull Asher closer, crouch down to his level, and ruffle his messy hair.
He scrunches up his face adorably, and I can’t help but pinch his chubby cheeks, my heart melting a little. Ever since he and Anna woke me up, Asher has been clinging to my legs, pleading to come with me to the hospital.
