“What’s wrong with you, Maximus? You haven’t stopped fidgeting since you walked through that door. Don’t tell me this is about Selene again. Is she still ignoring you?”
Raymond’s laughter grates on my nerves, but I refuse to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. Instead, I glare at him, silently seething. How he finds humor in my situation is beyond me.
I still can’t believe Selene had the audacity to ban me from her hospital. The sting of that insult is sharp, but beneath it all, there’s something darkly amusing about the whole thing.
The security guards had looked painfully uncomfortable delivering the news, stammering as they informed me their boss—Selene—had barred me from entering.
