Chapter 29

1080 Words
Yasmyn's POV "Who is your boyfriend, Natalie?" I asked her and she paused to look at me. She was staring at the palace in awe. Even the ceiling had her opening her mouth with amusement. I partially feel bad for not telling her about who I was. But then again, that's the part I wanted to keep private. I didn't want people to know who I was and I certainly didn't want people treating me differently just because I was the Princess. Now Queen to be, of course. Something even I did not see coming. "He is Stephen. From the Fire Ash pack," she said and I nodded, but in confusion. I should talk to Brendan about this. And wow, thanks to the rejection from his side, we don't have mindlink yet. It's like our wolves marked each other and yet, we are still strangers. "He didn't mark me. I marked him," my wolf said and I chose not to respond to her. I should talk to her sometime and find common ground before I go insane and ask someone to erase my wolf side. That would mean dangerous in many ways but I think being human is still far better than having a wolf who doesn't listen to their human side. "And what does he do?" I asked Natalie again. "He is the Gamma he said. He never gave me more details. We met each other during the unmated party at the pack. Our pack. Or my pack I should say," Natalie said and I smiled at her. "And guess what, Alpha Brendan is somewhere out there getting his therapy done for his mental health," Natalie said and I almost choked on my own saliva again. What did she just say.? "Huh?" I asked her and she shook her head, with a shoulder shrug. "That's what his parents told everyone when the pack members were questioning his absence. It was as if he disappeared along with you. I didn't see you again and from that moment, I didn't see him again either," Natalie said and I chuckled nervously. It's a good thing that Brendan isn't here right now and is doing God knows what. "So you came here because you found a map and realized who I was," I said, trying to form a conclusion and when she nodded, that was all the conclusion I needed. Well. Then it's clear that whoever her boyfriend is, knows me. And it also feels like he wanted to come here himself but when Natalie stole his shirt, it led her to come to me. Whatever the reason is, I still don't understand many things. For that, I need to talk to Brendan. And for that, I need somewhere where Natalie is not there. "How about you take a quick shower and take some rest? The guards will show you to the guest house and your room. Your food will be sent to you in a while. I am kind of busy but let's have dinner together. Is that okay?" I asked her and her eyes went wide. "What?" I asked her and she shook her head at me. "I really didn't think this was true until you spoke like this. Now things started to feel real. You are real. And you are the Queen to be. Wow," she said making me chuckle. I tilted my head at the guard closest to me and he bowed down to me once, before gesturing Natalie that he was ready to show her the way. "I will also send you clothes, okay? Get rid of these first" I said and Natalie nodded as she followed the guard. I asked Selena to take care of the clothes and the food thing. She glared at me, clearly disappointed with what I just did. I cannot abandon Natalie like that. She might look unhygienic and problematic but she is not. That's how she lived her life so far. Everyone needs a helping hand to be a better person and I want to be that for Natalie. I then found out that Brendan was at the hospital, with Adi. So I made my way to that place to meet both of them. It's been a day since I spoke to Adi too. Wow things had been so all over the place, that I didn't even have enough time to talk to my own family. The thoughts of everything happening slowly started to feel like a burden over my shoulders but I kept walking. I found Brendan talking to Adi about something but their conversation felt on a light note when I walked in. Not the kind of aggressive conversation I caught Vernon and Raul in. "How are you doing, brother?" I asked Adi and he chuckled at me. He woke up just this midnight and for good, the doctors said. He still has no idea what happened here in this room when Vernon and Raul were there the last time. And we intend on keeping it that way for the time being. "Brendan here is filling me with things I missed," Adi said but the smile on his face tells me that he doesn't know about it yet. Which is great. "Yes. You indeed missed a lot but we can always talk about it later. For now, you should focus on resting okay?" I asked him and he rolled his eyes. But he agreed nonetheless probably because he looked tired too. And he is in desperate need of some sleep. Brendan noticed that too so with a bow, he walked out along with me. "What brought you here? I thought you would be sleeping off the entire day," Brendan said and I wanted to fake my laugh. I chose not to. "Do you have any idea what your parents have been telling people who are questioning your absence?" I asked him and he looked confused. Great. He does not know then. Maybe he doesn't have to know either. That's not my place to tell him. "Tell me about the Fire Ash pack. And their Gamma. I need to know something," I asked him and once again, he looked at me in pure confusion. "What is wrong with you?" He asked and now, I am the confused one. "What?" I asked back, with a pounding heart. "There is no such pack with the name Fire Ash," he said. And wow. Another plot twist? Yes. I am used to them by now.
