KYLE LOUW
“f**k, big boss is going to kill me.” I cuss and turn on my heels. I put my hands on my head because I feel so stupid for acting towards my feelings. I am afraid to turn back to look at her because I think I might have scared her.
The thing is, spending a lot of time with her has brought me so much closer to her, and I am falling so hard for her. I got lost in her dress and I couldn’t waste that moment when she held my hands and asked me to breathe. It was as if she saw through me that she left me speechless and breathless – so much I was desperate to kiss her, and it felt so good.
“Kyle,” She calls me out in a whisper, but I don’t turn to face her. I am scared of rejection, so I will save myself from it.
“I am sorry… I shouldn’t have done that. I will tell the boss about what I did, and I am ready for any kind of punishment I will receive,” I say.
I am an Omega in the pack, and Omegas are the last in the rank. The Alpha will not hesitate to shoot me dead, but I am ready because Yolanda is probably going to tell her father.
“Kyle, why would my dad punish you? Why would you want to tell him about what happened?” She softly asks, so close behind me. I slowly turn and face her.
“Are you not angry that I kissed you, princess?” I tilt my head and scrutinise her with my eyes. My heart cools down when she smiles and shakes her head.
She steps even closer, leaving no space between us before she puts her hands on either side of my face and asks,
“Kiss me again,”
I look at her with a smirk and pull my lower lip between my teeth. I run my thumb around her lips before I push it into her mouth. Why is she allowing me to do this to her?
I let her suck my finger for a few seconds before I lean over to kiss her lips, deeper than I did before. It is not dirty, but passionate so much that we both enjoy it. We both pull away when we run out of breath. She is now shy and keeps her eyes on the floor, smiling.
I am tempted to ask her what this kiss means to her, but I decide against it and let it go with the flow. But I am hoping to get something more than a kiss – some love and affection.
“I am honoured to be the first to see you in this dress. You are going to kill everyone with your looks. You are really gorgeous in that dress,”
“Thank you,” Is that a blush I am seeing on her face? Damn, she is adorable.
“You are welcome,” I check the time on my wristwatch. “Do you need to go anywhere before I leave? Your dad asked me to fetch Squishy at a friend’s house,”
“No, I am fine,”
I move towards her and cup her face before I drop one last kiss on her soft lips and leave the house.
Alpha is going to murder me if he ever finds out that I am burying my tongue deep in her mouth, but he got to understand; I am a man who is falling in love. I am sure he’s been there himself. I am worried about Yolanda though; does she feel the same way I feel? I do not want to feel excited over nothing more than just a kiss. I am a twenty-six-year-old man, and I do not have time for games. I need love, serious love, but Yolanda is only eighteen, and I am concerned that she still wants to fool around, perhaps not ready for commitment. I do not want to rush her into anything though.
***
A few days later, the Alpha summoned me, and I won’t lie and say that I am not nervous. Does he know something about me and Yolanda? I won’t lie and say I have been careful; I enjoy kissing Yolanda, and even though we both haven’t labelled our situation, I think it is best that way so that we both may avoid disappointments. I got to think about it these past few days, and I realised that catching love will only mean one thing – catching a bullet. I live my life by a gun, and I know that I will die by one, but not today, I hope.
I enter the warehouse and I am told that the boss has not yet arrived. I walk up to Capo – the beta who is the Alpha’s right-hand man. Every time I look at his face, I can only think about Yolanda calling him Scary Man.
“What do you want?” He attacks as soon as I get to him. Shame, he means well.
“Uhm, Capo; do you know when Alpha will be here?”
“No,”
“Do you at least know what he wants to see me for?” He must know, I mean, he is the Alpha’s right-hand man.
“No,” He says, now contemptuously.
That is just how he is. Always droopy, and hardly ever shows interest in conversations. He is a very quiet yet observant man. He is dangerous, worst than the Alpha too, I am even surprised he hasn’t killed him yet to earn his spot. Between him and the Alpha, I would choose the latter. These two could create storms side-by-side. That is how powerful they are.
I sit down on the couch next to him and tap on my foot. I am nervous because Alpha always calls me when he wants something, but this time he called me to the warehouse. Is he suspecting something?
“What have you done, Omega?” I gasp and turn to look at Capo.
“What?”
“You heard me. You are uneasy and fidgeting, and it is so annoying. What are you nervous about?”
I fake my laugh and shake my head.
“You are clearly seeing things,” I stand and walk towards the minibar and grab a bottle of water before I down it all at once.
“There is no need to be worried if you know you didn’t do what the boss thinks you do,” immediately, I drop the empty bottle, and I feel the palm of my hands starting to sweat and my heart pumping twice as ever.
What do they think I did?
I turn around and put on a brave face, looking at Capo who is still holding up an unreadable expression, so I cannot tell if he was serious or joking with his statement. Just then, Alpha walks in and shoots straight to his office, not forgetting to call me.
“Kyle, follow me!”
I get to the office and close the door behind me. I cannot read his mood because he is acting like his usual self, so I ask, just to hear the tone in his response.
“Alpha, is everything alright?”
“No, Kyle. Everything is not alright,” He spits. “It is about my daughter,”
Shit, he knows. f**k, I am dead.
“Uhm, which one?” I ask in a cool tone not trying to seem guilty.
“Actually, both Thando and Yolanda. They are stressing me out. You do know about their matric dance tomorrow, right? Well, Thando has a date, and I am f*****g sceptical about her date. The thought of my daughter with a man I don’t even know makes my blood crawl. I think there is something going on between them, but Thando is my insubordinate daughter and I know her too well to think that “he” is just a friend. Since Yolanda does not have a date, I want you to be her date so that you can closely keep an eye on both her and Thando,”
I finally breathe out the air I did not even know I was holding and wipe the invisible sweat on my forehead.
“Oh, uhm… so, that is why you called me here for, Alpha, nothing else?” I ask as the room finally warms up and I finally take a seat on the armchair. “Tell me more, Alpha.”
I will do anything to be close to Yolanda right now, even if it makes me uncomfortable. I graduated from High school many years ago, and three years ago I was graduating from university, earning my honours in forensic science, but I was an athlete then; I used to be a parkour athlete, so I did not really pursue working as I focused on my athletic career until I fell off a thirty-six feet wall and twisted my ankle. That was when I was told that I cannot continue with my career. It was a painful and hard pill to swallow because I was good at what I do; I was a champion. I won gold medals only and gold cups because I was the best – the GOAT. But anyway, I met this man right in front of me when I was in a wheelchair, and he offered to pay my medical bills and made sure that I get the best help I need, no matter the cost just to get me back to my career, and now I owe my life to him. Yes, he said he would make me get back to being an athlete because he was my number one fan, but I was not ready, so he recruited me here, and to be honest, I kind of like it here, and I would like to rank up someday.
“I want you to match up Yolanda’s standards, okay? Look expensive and smell expensive, but most importantly, be intimidating,” He opens his safe and takes out a stack of bank notes. “Get your outfit together; look clean and get a fresh haircut. Look like the ALPHA!” Of course, who wouldn’t want to look like the Alpha? This man is classic and elegant. It is such a pity his wife died because they made a mean couple. They were the talk of town each week, in the news on Tv, on social media, and just everywhere they walked. They were the “it” couple.
