When we got to the apartment Tom parked the car as usual and he wanted to take the cab home but I told him it was okay if he just went home with the car instead. That was me trying to show we appreciate him. He was really happy about the idea. On my way to the lift I switched on my phone, other phone and dialed David.
"Hi David" I said with flatter in my voice.
"Hello Lisa, almost thought you gave up on us"
"No, how can I. So, you ready for that date?" I asked opening the door to my apartment.
"Never been readier"
Before we got any further I had to lay down some ground rules. With no guarantee of him following them but I knew how to handle him. As they say, in any relationship those who care less are the one's with the power. In ours it was me who cared less.
