“Why are you still here? Shouldn’t you be on your way to the wedding already?” Carrie’s voice travels through the open door to my bedroom, where I have been rummaging through stuff for over an hour. “Adam’s picking me up any minute now. I’m still looking for my necklace.” I shout back, looking desperately and hopelessly through my small closet. Where on Earth is it? Huffing, puffing and frankly on the verge of tears, I collapse on my bed before I do too much damage and need a shower.
