Not knowing what else to do, or where to go, I instinctively retreated in the direction of the room I am sharing with Adam, all thoughts about going out with my friends forgotten. Apparently I had forgotten about the very high possibility of Adam coming back to the room too, because the distinctive beep and click of the door unlocking with a keycard rang way too loud. I scrambled to wipe my eyes and tear stricken cheeks, not having enough time to blow my nose too, hence I did the unthinkable that everyone has done at least a dozen times in their lives even though most would never openly admit it: I sniffled and swallowed the snot that accumulated in my throat.
