Cecil

Dylan’s Point of View “I can’t believe I still have no idea what I’m wearing tonight. That’s the only problem with you making me such beautiful clothes” I said to Scarlett as she straightened my hair for me. We were in my makeup room off the bathroom in the master suite. “No way sister don’t blame it on the clothes! You’re having trouble figuring out what to wear because you’re still not letting yourself do what you want.” “What the hell are you talking about Scarlett?” I turned around and looked at her. “You’re trying to figure out what Rowan wants you to wear without asking him. It’s ridiculous, there is nothing wrong with letting your husband pick out your outfit, especially for a big occasion such as this. I’m sending him up here when I go downstairs” she finished my hair and fluttered to the door. “Your gift of sight is annoying sometimes, ya know that?” “Hurry up, I’m going to try my wings” she grinned at me and was gone before I could say anything else. I went into my closet and looked around, she was right, I did want Rowan to choose my outfit and I hated that I was embarrassed to let myself do it. “What’s up babe? Scarlett said you wanted to see me?” Rowan said when he walked into my closet. “What should I wear tonight?” “You’re asking me? I think you look hot in the robe you’ve got on.” “I don’t think we should go with the robe.” “I like the robe though” he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into him. “What’s wrong baby? You seem a little sad” I looked up at him. “I’m not sad. It’s just…” “What?” I took a small step back so I could see his face, he took a deep breath and continued. “I don’t want you to think I’m not excited for our place opening tonight, it’s just that I really love the routine we’ve settled into. I’m the happiest when you and Raffa and I are cuddled up together watching our shows or those depressing documentaries you love to watch. I just don’t want that to stop.” I was confused, “baby, why would that stop?” “We’ve been home together every night since that dreadful night with Remy. I don’t want us to be out every night now that Beloved’s is opening.” “I don’t want that either. That’s why we asked Bastien to run it with us, so we didn’t get consumed with everything. We even decided not to have an office there, so we’re forced to work from home. Or take over Bastien’s office” I smiled at him. “I’m sure he’d love that” he said sarcastically. “We should do a pinky swear.” “I like pinky swears!” he perked up. “Let’s pinky swear that we’re home more nights a week than were not and we’ll only go if we both want to go. Unless it’s an emergency and we need to cover for Bastien” I held my pinky out for him. “Deal” he linked his pinky around mine and kissed me. “Now, what do you want me to wear?” He hesitated while he looked around my closet. “What do you want to see me in?” I prodded him. “I want to be sexy for you” I was honest with both of us. “Hmmm, when you put it like that, I am dying to see you in this.” He walked over to one of the jumpsuits that Scarlett made me that I still hadn’t worn because as Rowan said, we stayed home all the time. “Great choice!” I said as I looked at the champagne-colored sequin jumpsuit with long sleeves and a very deep plunging V neck, a thin contrasting white belt and slightly belled at the ankles. “It’ll look great with your hair straightened.” “I straightened it because I know you love it straight even though you won’t say that.” I kissed him again. “I always think your perfect, beloved.” Cecil’s Point of View “What the hell is she doing?” I asked myself as I watched from the shadows as Scarlett put on a pair of wings. She cannot be serious, I thought as I watched her try and flutter them. Her friends had pained expressions on their faces watching her. I laughed out loud when she pulled out a wand, I couldn’t help myself, I sent a little magic to it. Unfortunately, it was perfectly timed with her waving it at the dog, I panicked when he started to float off the couch. “Aggh! Scarlett! What did you do to Raffa?!” The big guy, I think his name is Rowan, shouted. Bastien and Rowan tried to keep him from going any higher. “I don’t know!” Scarlett was on the verge of tears; this was my fault and I had to fix it. I guess now was as good a time as any to introduce myself, I shimmered into the living room. “What did you say when you waved the wand at him?” I asked as I levitated next to the poor creature. “Who are you? What is happening right now?” Rowan was panicked, I didn’t blame him, one minute his dog was sleeping next to him on the couch, the next he was floating in midair next to some strange floating man. There was a lot going on to say the least. “Ah, Cecil, how nice to see you again” Bastien smiled up at me. “Cecil? Who the hell is Cecil?” Rowan looked back and forth between us. “I’ll explain everything once we get this sorted out. Scarlett, what did you say when you waved the wand?” I asked again. “You’re wish is my command” Dylan answered for her, Scarlett was to gob smacked to answer herself. “Rowan told Raffa that he wished he was immortal, but he tells him that at least five times a day” Dylan answered my next question without me having to ask. “Phew, that’s an easy fix” I put my hands on either side of his head and gently blew into his face and then slowly lowered both of us to the couch. “What the fuck just happened?! Somebody needs to tell me what is going on! What did you do to my dog?” Rowan demanded. “I granted your wish” I said sheepishly, I didn’t think this was the best foot to start on, but here we were. “What?” Dylan was stunned, “He’ll be a puppy forever?” “Uh, no. He’ll get full grown; it just might be overnight. But he’ll live as long as you two are alive” I nervously forced a smile. “Are you telling me my dog is immortal?” Rowan stared at me. “Um, yes, that’s what I’m telling you” I pushed my glasses back up my nose. “Brother!” Rowan grinned at me and gave me a big bear hug. “I have no idea who you are or what the hell you’re doing in my house, but you’re welcome anytime!” “Thank you, friends?” I held my hand out for a handshake. “Absolutely!” He gave me a firm, honest handshake. I looked around at everyone else in the room as they looked at me, not knowing what the hell to make of me. “May I?” Bastien asked me. I nodded, I was too nervous to talk, I did better when I had a plan, and this was not my plan. “Everyone, this is Cecil. He visited me at Beloved’s earlier today before the rest of you showed up. Cecil, this is my wife Rebecca, her sister Laa, Danny, Boom, Akito, Stacia, Dylan and Rowan, Raffa’s parents. This is Lucky, Scarlett’s fiancé and the most important one of all, Cecil this is Scarlett, Scarlett, this is Cecil. He is Cian’s brother.” “You’re a Faye?” Scarlett quietly asked me as her eyes filled with tears. “Yes, just as you are. It’s a pleasure to meet you” I held out my hand. She burst into tears and covered her face. I was confused, I thought she’d be happy to meet me. I lowered my hand and took a step back. “Scarlett, why are you crying?” Dylan put her arms around her. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful! Stacia warned me that it might be offensive but I’m so desperate to learn about being a Faye. I’m sorry.” “He’s right, some of the old timers wouldn’t have found that funny but it didn’t bother me. I’m stuffy, but not that stuffy. I’ve come to mentor you, if you’re willing to do the work. It won’t be easy, but it’ll be worth it.” I attempted to shake her hand again. “You’re my new best friend!” She exclaimed and leapt into my arms. “No offense D!” “None taken! I don’t know if I count as a best friend at this point. I consider us sisters more than friends.” Dylan seemed to be as excited as Scarlett was. “Uh, so, what just happened with Raffa?” Lucky asked as he looked around the room at everyone. “I was trying to pull a joke on her, but I wasn’t expecting her to actually cast a spell” I explained. “Did I cast a spell?” Scarlett was shocked. “I’m not sure what you did, but it was my mistake. I fixed it though, I apologize I shouldn’t have done what I did to your wand.” “Don’t apologize man, it was the greatest mistake ever made!” Rowan beamed as he scratched the dogs’ ears. “Cecil, my friend, where are our manners? Can we get you anything?” The woman Bastien introduced as Laa asked me warmly. “Do you have any cream?” “Cream?” Lucky asked. “Yes, it takes the edge off. It can get Faye drunk if we’re not careful with it.” I replied. “No, I’m sorry we don’t have any cream” Dylan said regretfully. “But that’s very interesting.” “Do you have any cake?” “They don’t have that either, but I would also love some cake. I suppose that’s what happens when you hang out with vampires” Stacia laughed. “If you come back tomorrow, I’ll make you all kinds of different cakes” Dylan offered. “I’d like that, thank you” I pushed my glasses, I tended to do that when I was nervous. “I thought you hated cooking?” Rowan turned to Dylan. “I do, but I love baking, that’s totally different. Ask Scarlett, I use to win the bake sale competition in high school every year!” Dylan was very proud. “Can I at least bother you for a glass?” I asked, Rowan tripped over his feet getting one for me. I snapped my fingers and filled the glass with cream, I must admit, I was enjoying showing of a bit, I didn’t get to do it very often. “NO WAY!!!” Scarlett squealed, “am I going to be able to do that too?” “This is nothing compared to what you’ll be able to do” I sipped my cream carefully, just enough to take the edge off. “In five minutes time, you’ve made Raffa immortal and made a glass of cream appear, I want to be a Faye! I know Bastien already introduced us but I’m Danny, it is my absolute pleasure to meet you, Cecil! Where are you staying?” “I haven’t lined anything up yet, as I told Bastien earlier, I wanted to make sure Scarlett was worthy to learn the Faye ways but it’s easy to see she has a pure heart and spirit.” “She sure does! Welcome to the family brother!” Lucky gave me a big hug. “I promised Cecil when we spoke earlier that I would protect him like he was one of my own” Bastien told the group, they immediately all agreed with him. “Forgive me if I’m being to forward Cecil. My name is Akito, Stacia and I live next to Scarlett and Lucky and we have an empty room. I cannot imagine a safer place for you considering all of us and the security that stands guard all the time for Scarlett and Stacia.” “Yes please,” Stacia added. “We can eat cake while we try to track that demon down. Laa tells me I have a hell of a sweet tooth myself.” “I think that’s a wonderful idea, I’m Boom. Danny and I live above them.” “Oh, please say yes! Pretty please!” Scarlett had her hands clasped under her chin. I considered the invitation while I looked around the room, Akito by himself was more than enough protection. I heard very noble things about him from someone I admired greatly and the rest of them seemed very welcoming and friendly. “I suppose that’s a good way for us all to get to know one and other” I said to all of them. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!” Scarlett hugged me tightly. “Please don’t think me rude but we really should be going, we can continue this conversation later. Tonight, we have much to celebrate, I hope you’ll join us at Beloved’s, Cecil” Bastien put his arm across my shoulders. “I think I’d enjoy that, thank you” I said graciously. “We can stop at my studio, and I can whip you up something to wear if you’d like” Scarlett kindly offered. “I appreciate that but there’s no need” I snapped my fingers, and I was in a very sharp tuxedo if I do say so myself. “OH! That is bloody fantastic!” Danny clapped his hands, “are you certain I’m not Faye? I’m the right size” Akito shot him a look. “How did you do that?” Scarlett was mesmerized. “That was easy, I simply manifested it” I giggled, it was fun being around people that weren’t used to what Faye can do. “You see that?” Stacia pointed at me. “I was telling Dylan just today about how powerful manifestation is.”   “Are you sure I’ll be able to do that? I’m only half Faye?” No Scarlett, you’re mistaken. I would not be here if you were only half Faye. Both your parents are Faye, as a matter of fact, your mother’s family is considered royalty in the Faye world.”
