Chapter 78

1636 Words

*Ada* I felt ridiculous when Calvin put his hat on me, but it feels nice to be outside. It’s almost like I’m hidden beneath it. I covered as much of my skin as possible with clothes to be sure no one would see me like this. “I didn’t realize how much I love sunshine until I couldn’t feel it anymore,” I say softly, soaking in its warmth. “That’s what you smell like to me,” he tells me, a nervous smile on his face. “Like how the sun smells shining through a window. It makes me think of home when I would lay on the floor beneath a window to read.” “You like to read?” I ask. He nods. “It’s all I had to do for a long time- read and care for the house. The summer was always a bit more fun when we had a garden to care for.” “Can I see it someday?” I ask. He’s quiet for a long time.
