I can’t be the Alpha. Calvin has to be wrong. There is no way this is possible.
The wolfsbane is wearing off. He hasn’t been back here in days. Something is wrong, and I don’t understand, but maybe, just maybe, I can escape this time. Calvin thought I could.
I climb up the side of the rock to the hole where the sun shines through. I’m so weak, but I feel stronger than I have in months with the wolfsbane wearing off. Maybe. The rocks are smooth, making it hard to climb, but I manage, carefully pulling myself up and ignoring my aching muscles.
The sun is beginning to rise. It’s been so long since I’ve seen the sun. I’ve not been strong enough to climb this high and actually see out of the hole. It’s beautiful, so beautiful that a tear escapes.
