We shouldn't have stopped, but we did. With an erratic heart, Harika glanced in the direction of the voice while sniffing the air.
"s**t, Brett," I hissed.
"We have been looking for you," he stepped forward.
Harika stepped back and turned around to leave.
"Wait!" he yelled. "Please, I would like to thank you for saving our lives."
Harika cast a glance at him over her shoulder. When Brett didn't attempt to get any closer, Harika waited for a while.
"You are a strange wolf. I haven't seen another creature like you. Anyway, I understand if you prefer to remain hidden. I won't force you to meet our pack. But thank you. I will always remember what you did for us," he expressed his heartfelt gratitude.
