CHAPTER THREE. I don’t even know for how long he has driven until he brings the car to a halt and that’s when I look up. We are in front of our old house, the one I left after I got married to Zach. Seeing it now, another set of emotions rise up within me and I close my eyes, I no longer want to cry. I have been strong, for me and my baby. “This was the only place I could think of, Luna,” he says. “I said do not call me Luna, Pete” I say in an irritated voice. “You are the only Luna i know” he replies, “and I won’t call anyone else that name” “Do not make Zach kill you for no reason” Not waiting for his response, I climb out of the car but before I can even take a step closer to the house, a maybach comes to park in front of the car and he alights. My jaw drops at the man who has just come out of the car. Long silver hair pulled into a bun, his chiseled face and pointed nose. His presence, so exquisite and so powerful like that of a medieval king with that height of his. There is something about this man that makes me continue to gape at him when I shouldn’t. If I am to compare him with Zach then Zach stands no chance in this man’s presence. “Is this the house?” He asks the man who has come to stand beside him and the man nods. “Yes sir” He glances at me for a split second, his gaze lingering before he turns away from me. “This is good,” he mutters. I finally jolt out of my reverie as he starts to advance towards the gate. “Excuse me sir” I call out to him and he halts, “that’s my house you are going to. Who are you and what business do you have here?” “What do you mean?” He raises an eyebrow at me. “Madam” the man beside him calls out to me, “this is his property, we purchased this land three months ago” “What?” My eyebrow hit my hairline, “what do you mean? I didn’t sell this property” “Well, we have the papers” the man says again and pulls out some documents while his attention remains on me. It feels like he is studying me, trying to know who exactly I am. “You do not need to show her the papers” he finally speaks out, his gaze still on me, “I believe her” Now I am confused, “what are you talking about?” “If you didn’t sell this land, it means someone ripped you off, right?” “Of course” I answer, but who would have done that? “Tell me” I urge him, “who sold this land to you? You need to meet that person and collect your money, I have no intentions of selling this” “It’s okay” he responds and starts walking towards me, each step precise and calm. “You look sick, are you okay?” He comes to a halt in front of me, his huge figure towering above me. I can swear to the moon goddess that this man is much taller than Zach. Why the hell do I keep comparing the two of them? “I am fine” I tell him, “so maybe you should leave now, since…. My voice trails off as I cough lightly, “you should leave, sir” “Are you okay, Luna?” The driver rushes to me and I see how the man’s face creases up for a moment. “I told you not to call me that” I whisper to him. “You do not have to hide your status from me” he tells me, “i already know who you are by looking at you” “Then you should know someone was trying to scam you by selling this property” “I know that too,” he replies. “Thank you, I think you should leave now” I cough again and pain surges through my entire body. I am beginning to feel it, the pain of my rejection and my bond breaking. My wolf is breaking into pieces and I can do nothing but watch my body bear the brunt of it. “I will take you to the hospital,” Pete suggests. “I am fine” I snap at him before I start to walk towards the house again. I will hate to break down in front of a stranger, I will hate for another man to watch me break down again. Zach has done enough, he has shattered me and I won’t let another get that pleasure. But the moment I get to the gate, the pain intensifies and my whole body comes to a halt. I can neither move nor even say a word, the only feeling my body knows now is pain and more pain. Tears pull out of my eyes, pain continues to envelope my entire body. It feels like I am going to break apart, my wolf is going to break down into pieces and I can’t do anything but just….. I don’t know for how long I have been standing until someone pulls me into his embrace and I close my eyes. “Breath, Avery” he whispers into my ear, “you are more than this pain” I don’t know why he feels the need to hug me or comfort me but maybe I need it. I lean into his embrace and allow the pain of my broken bond to surge through me but it feels easier with his body against mine like he is also absorbing the pain. Just who exactly is he and why is he helping me? “Who are you?” I manage to ask him, “sniffing back a tear. “Who I am is not important now, Avery” he responds, “you have your entire lifetime to know me but right now, I need to get you to a f*****g healer, your body is burning up” Not waiting for my response, he gathers me up in his arms and makes his way back to his car. By now, the only thing I can feel is my hot body pressed against his but he doesn’t seem to mind. A stranger didn’t seem to mind but my f*****g husband didn’t give it a second thought as he served me divorce papers. I close my eyes and lean into his embrace, allowing all my pain and anger to envelope me. ****** I groan softly as I open my eyes, my forehead curls into a slight frown when I notice I am in a different room all together. This isn’t my room in my mother’s house neither is it my room in the pack house or even Zach’s house. With the frown still lingering, the memories of what happened earlier start to wind its way into my head and I immediately shoot out of bed. A deep hoarse voice stops me, “your body is still very weak” he says, “do not move with so much intensity” I turn my head towards the direction of the voice and I freeze. He is the man from earlier but right now he looks so much better. Sitting on that chair looking like a king, a robe on his body but that’s not what catches my attention. His onyx eyes look like they are staring into my soul. His thin full lips make his face look more beautiful and attractive. It is like I am staring into the moon because this man is one hell of a beautiful man and his silver hair which is falling all over his face is not helping matters at all. “Maybe when we are done with fixing your wolf, you can stare?” His voice jolts me out of my head and I gulp, turning away from him. “Thank you for helping me” I tell him, “but I should go now” I make to stand up from the bed but he is already walking towards me, his presence so intimidating. “You need some time to heal” he says, “you can not move around as you please just yet” “I can heal on my own, Mr… “Call me Zayn” he adds, “and yes, I would have let you go if only you were not so far from Texas, Avery. So better lie back down and let your wolf heal” He straightens up again, “if you want to have your baby, then you need to heal for it” My jaw drops, how the hell did he know? “Who exactly are you?” I can’t help but ask him. “Zayn” he replies, leaning closer to me again, “alpha king of all f*****g packs including the pack of the man who hurt you” he says, his gaze darkening as he enunciates each word.
