Elizabeth still wasn't talking to her mother by the time she died, so I went to Marlene's house to see if there was anything that might be worth taking for her. I had never spoken to Marlene before; I had no interest in approaching a human woman with no good reason for it, and she had no idea who I even was. It was easy enough to find her home, and her neighbors assumed I was a solicitor, or the executor of her will, so I didn't attract any attention.
