"Elizabeth is missing." I felt a weight lift from my chest as I said the words. It didn't make me feel better, but I hadn't realized how desperately I needed to say those words aloud - to acknowledge what I was afraid of, and what I suspected. "Missing?" Daniel sounded confused, and I swallowed the uncomfortable lump in my throat and tried to give him some information so that he might actually be able to help. "Yes; missing. We went out on Friday and..." I felt my stomach churn again before I forced myself to carry on, "...and she hasn't come back." Daniel stood up and left me on the stairs.
