Xander Morning came, and I quietly left Nala still sleeping in bed. I had matters to attend to, particularly the missing person report we had put out for Annabel. I wanted to find her for Nala’s sake. Though they didn’t grow up together, Annabel was the only blood relative Nala had left, apart from her mother, whose whereabouts remained unknown. It felt important, not just to Nala but to me, to reunite them if possible. As I stepped into the hallway, I was met by Eli, and together we made our way to my office. When we arrived, Ronan was already there, working at his desk, a mug of coffee in hand. “Couldn’t sleep?” I asked, noting the fatigue in his eyes. He nodded, rubbing his forehead. “No. I want to find Annabel and get this sorted. The sooner we do, the sooner we can move forward.
