Nala I was taken aback when I walked into the breakfast room and saw Raya seated at the table, chatting with Maxwell. Annabel and I had just arrived, and the sight immediately struck me as strange. What was she doing here? Her presence was unauthorized—Xander had been crystal clear about that. Yet here she was, sitting comfortably, as though she belonged. It was clear she had someone on her side within the packhouse, someone who had allowed her entry despite the boundaries that had been set. Still, I held my composure. Sending her away would only make it seem like she posed some kind of threat. But the truth was, she didn’t. There was no competition between us, no rivalry. I was Luna—Xander’s fated mate, his equal—and Raya was nothing more than a shadow of what could have been.
