MIA The room was filled with silence for a long time till my mother spoke. “Mia, did you hear what I said?” my uncle asked. Knowing I had to tell him I understood what he had told, I slowly turned around and looked at him. Our eyes met and I gave him a nod but still didn’t say anything to them. I knew this would happen and it was coming. But knowing it was happening without warning, that made everything seem all too real for me.
