MIA
The room was filled with silence for a long time till my mother spoke. “Mia, did you hear what I said?” my uncle asked.
Knowing I had to tell him I understood what he had told, I slowly turned around and looked at him. Our eyes met and I gave him a nod but still didn’t say anything to them.
I knew this would happen and it was coming. But knowing it was happening without warning, that made everything seem all too real for me. Like it wasn’t sinking in what was said, even though my uncle’s words had gotten through it was like my brain wasn’t expecting it.
My eyes stayed on my mother and uncle, both seemed to look worried that I wasn’t ready for this.
