Jake was whimpering in my head at the words that she said, but I was completely too numb to even acknowledge it, but it was all based on my father’s words. There was always a chance she would never accept me as her mate, but hearing it again in her wolf's words gutted me. Hell, it gutted Jake.
Hell, wolves would never reject their own mates for their humans. But this was all new, and judging by what we saw back from the attack and right now, she had been hiding everything from us, including her wolf, who, come to think of it now, would have seen and even felt everything we did to her.
