Standing by the window of my bedroom and letting my thoughts go over what my father had discussed.
Sleep never came, but Chloe did. She came into my room late last night. Demanding she stay with me, trying to get close to which I shot her down. That was something new to her, but recently.
When she asked why I was acting like I hated her, she faked a pout and saddening look. It took everything in me not to blurt everything out to her, but I kept my composure and explained that my father added more work to my already heavy load for the alpha position.
As soon as the alpha position was laid out for her, she was all sweet again. The falseness was comical, thinking I couldn’t see through it even though years ago I wouldn’t even have noticed anything like that.
