Ace could feel his body changing, his bones cracking, and his limbs extending as his body slowly transformed into a wolf. His hands and feet morphed into clawed paws. Ace landed on all fours, his sleek black fur glistening in the light.
Ace shook his body and slowly got out from behind the mausoleum and approached his mate. He started sniffing her and memorizing her delightful scent.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't run with you with my wolf," Kate softly said. She ran her fingers through his black fur, making him purr. "Because I'm wolfless," she added. If only she had her wolf, she would love to run beside Ace.
Ace whimpered and nudged her leg. Kate smiled, then climbed onto Ace's back, ensuring she held on tightly. Ace howled and began running deeper into the forest.
