The air was thick in the Calrson’s living room. Erik was pacing back and forth, his phone in hand. We were waiting to hear from Jack about his meeting with Tori, but so far, nothing.
“I wonder if she will listen?” Erik murmured aloud. I glanced over at him, my jaw tight.
“I hope so. If she doesn’t…I don’t know what to do,” I said. Erik stopped pacing and ran his fingers through his hair.
“There has to be something we can do if she doesn’t want to listen,” he said. Naomi, who had been sitting quietly on the couch, jumped when her phone rang.
“It’s Tori,” she said, her eyes wide.
“Answer it,” Erik ordered.
“Hello?” Naomi said as she answered the call. We couldn’t hear what Tori was saying, but the frown on Naomi’s face was answer enough. Something was definitely going on. “Sure
