Melissa’s body trembled and her eyes darkened when she heard what Frank was going to do to her. She shut her eyes and whispered, “Carl, for the sake of the Karolin family’s honor, just kill me now.”
If she were not poisoned and had no strength left in her, she would have chosen to commit suicide and not allow herself to be humiliated like this.
Carl was too stunned to speak. He looked down at her and saw a lonely, helpless, but determined look on her beautiful face. She was certainly not putting on an act anymore, since she was already on the verge of dying.
All of a sudden, the young man felt his heart ache for her and he said, “Your Ladyship, don’t worry, you still have me. I will protect you. I promise not to let anyone harm you! Not unless they step over my dead body!”
