Immediately after walking into the dark tunnel inside the wizard tower, Carl lost his balance for a second before realizing he was now at the entrance to the palace. He quickly realized that Raphael must have set up magic circles not only within the tower, but possibly throughout the palace and even the capital so as to limit the movement of people in and out of certain areas.
While he was thinking about these things, he heard Dorothy's relieved voice. "Phew! We made it out safely after all… Irina, I was so afraid that we wouldn't be able to make it out alive just now. I was really too naïve to think that my evidence alone would be sufficient to uproot the Romarins. We nearly lost our own lives in the process instead."
