Jason led the three of them down the long corridor past the living room and out of the first building. Ten minutes later, they finally came to the spacious yard of another house. While Carl was still looking around, Jason said casually, "The three of you can stay here. Don't wander about unnecessarily."
With that, he turned and left without even leading them into the house. Carl watched him walk away and could sense that Jason did not seem to like him very much.
He had no idea why, so he gave up thinking about it. He pushed the gate of the yard open and called out to Hervor and Dorothy to go in with him.
Just then, someone called out from inside, "Who's there?"
